Obituary of James Henry Turner Jr. JAMES HENRY TURNER JR. Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - Sunday, November 19, 2000 James Henry Turner Jr., 75, died Nov. 17, 2000, in Southampton Memorial Hospital. A native of Isle of Wight County, he was a son of the late James Henry and Cora Scott Turner and the husband of the late Elizabeth Wade Turner. An Army veteran of World War II and Korea, he was retired from the Sheet Finishing Department of Union Camp Corp. He was a member of Franklin Baptist Church. Survivors include three sons, Ronald W. ``Butch'' Turner and his wife, Vickie, of Franklin, Stephen B. Turner of Richmond and Bruce W. Turner and his wife, Lisa, of Sedley; a sister, Dorothy T. Cobb of Courtland ; a brother, H.M. ``Minnie'' Turner and his sister, Mary Nell, of Courtland ; three granddaughters, Stephanie Smith of Grafton, Va., and Kimberly L. Turner and Kandi L. Turner, both of Franklin; a stepgrandson, Billy Nixon; several nieces and nephews and special friends, Charlie Lupton, Billy Williams, Phillip Darden and J.D. Vann. He was predeceased by three sisters, Helen Mae Turner, Eleanor T. Hatch and Mae Dunlow Jones. A funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday in the chapel of Wright Funeral Home with the Rev. Dr. Roy DeBrand officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery , Courtland . The family will receive friends today from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home and suggests that memorials be made to Franklin Volunteer Fire and Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 179, Franklin, VA 23851.
