Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - October 31, 1998 Jack Emerson Trew Sr., 78, a resident of Newsoms , died Friday, Oct. 30, 1998, at Southampton Memorial Hospital, Franklin. Born Sept. 16, 1920, in Washington, D.C., he was the son of the late Olie and Loula Jane Trew. He was a Baptist, a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, a graduate of VPI and a former member of S&S Hunt Club, Statesville. He retired in 1980 after 20 years of service as a public school teacher and baseball and basketball coach. He taught agriculture and shop in Drewryville, Capron, Lively, Franklin High School, Southampton High School and Southampton Middle School. He was husband to the late Antionette Barrett Trew. Mr. Trew is survived by two sons, Jack Trew Jr. of Courtland, Bruce Trew and wife, Peggy, of Franklin; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. A graveside funeral service will be held in Hollywood Cemetery , Newsoms , on Sunday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Kenneth Williams and the Rev. Charles Langley officiating. The family will receive friends today from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Purviance Funeral Home, Boykins, and at other times at the residence of Bruce and Peggy Trew, 32198 Monroe Road, Franklin, Va. The family suggests memorial donations may be made to the Boykins Volunteer Fire and Rescue Squad or the American Diabetes Association, Peninsula Chapter, P.O.
