Margaret Blythe Tharrington, 73, of 200 W. Constance Rd., died Sept. 20, 1993, in Hillhaven-Nansemond Nursing and Rehabilitation center.  

A native of Southampton County, she was the widow of James O. Tharrington, and daughter of the late Tomy Blythe and Lucille Brock Blythe.  
Mrs. Tharrington was a Baptist.  
Survivors include two daughters, Mary T. Holland of Windsor and Peggy C. Tharrington of Dunbar; a son, James O. Tharrington III of Portsmouth; a sister, Odell B. Smith of Portsmouth; a brother Dempsey Blythe of Franklin; and four grandchildren.  
Private graveside services will be conducted Thursday in Poplar Spring Cemetery.  
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 902 Pennsylvania Ave.  
Sidney F. Harrell Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
