Taunton CAPRON - Estelle Hope Joyner Taunton, 91, died Jan. 10, 2002, at Southampton Memorial Hospital. She was born in Courtland on May 5, 1910, the daughter of the late Herbert Lafayette Joyner and Quintilla Vick Joyner. Mrs. Taunton operated a store and restaurant for several years in the 1950s and retired from W.H. Story's Variety Store where she worked for 25 years. She was a member of Capron Baptist Church and was the wife of the late Eliza Taunton. She is survived by her brother, Herbert Odell Joyner and wife, Frances; several nieces and nephews, Gladys Joyner Wright, Marion Ryvers Joyner, Barbara Lamb Goodrich, Alice Lamb Samuels, Jessica Joyner Robinson, Julia Joyner Gray, and Robert W. Pope Sr.; several great- and great-great-nieces and -nephews; and many special friends including the Francis families of Capron. She was predeceased by her brothers, Marion R. Joyner, Jesse H. Joyner and her sisters, Julia Joyner Edwards and Beulah Joyner Lamb. Graveside services will be held at Capron Cemetery , Capron, on Sunday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Keith Robinson officiating. The family will receive friends at Purviance Funeral Home, Wakefield, from 4 to 7 p.m. today. The family suggests that memorial donations be made to Capron Baptist Church or Capron Volunteer Rescue Squad, Capron, VA 23829.
