Born in Newsoms , he was a son of the late Willard Lewis and Annie Vick Story. He was a hard worker and a good family man all his life. Mr. Story was a retired farmer and a longtime service manager for Goodwin-Steinhardt farm machinery dealerships in Franklin. He was a member of Barnes United Methodist Church and a Merchant Marine veteran during World War II. He was a lifetime member of the S&S Hunt Club. Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Lizzie Hill Story; a daughter, Diane Story Mawyer and her husband Billy of Afton, Va.; a son, Edward Carlton Story of Walters; a daughter-in-law, Barbara E. Story; seven grandchildren, Joy Lambert, Gary Benton, Carl Story, Tracy Story, Larry Story Jr., Barbara Jo Story, and Mary Katherine Mawyer; two great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Lambert and Chuck Reed. Mr. Story was predeceased by a son, Lawrence Benjamin Story Sr.; a sister, Violet Story; four brothers, Emmitt Story, George Story, Willie Story and Jesse Story; and a daughter-in-law, Paige P. Story. A funeral will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in the chapel of Wright Funeral Home, Franklin, with the Rev. Gary Hartman and the Rev. Kenneth Williams officiating.
