Obituary of Waring Wright Smith Jr. WARING WRIGHT SMITH JR. Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - October 18, 2001 Waring Wright Smith Jr., 76, died Oct. 16, 2001, at Winchester Medical Center. Born in Franklin Sept. 26, 1925, he was the son of the late Waring Wright and Elizabeth Brownley Smith and the widower of Nancy A. Smith. A graduate of VPI and Duke University, he retired from Union Camp Corporation as Woodlands Manager in 1987 after more than 30 years of service. He was named a Fellow in the Society of American Foresters in 1994. Mr. Smith was a lifelong member of Emmanuel Episcopal Church. Survivors include two daughters, Martha Holt and husband, Stewart of Marietta, Ga., and Ann Waring Ainsworth and husband Mark of Stephens City, Va.; two sisters, Jane Dunlap of Rochester, Minn., and Mary B. Gildersleeve of Winchester; and four grandchildren. A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday in Emmanuel Episcopal Church by the Rev. Edmund Pickup. Burial will be in Poplar Spring Cemetery . The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at The Village at Woods Edge and requests that, in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to Emmanuel Episcopal Church, P.O.
