 Jane Abbitt Smith, 86, formerly of Boykins, Va., died Sept. 4, 1992, in a South Boston, Va., hospital. 
Mrs. Smith was born in Halifax County and was a member of the Boykins Baptist Church. She was the widow of William T. Smith. 
Survivors include a son, William H. Smith of Boykins; two brothers, Robert H. Abbitt of Martinsville and Jerry Abbitt of Clover; and a granddaughter, Jane A. Smith of Ahoskie. 
A graveside service will be conducted at 1:15 p.m. today at Beechwood Cemetery, Boykins, by the Rev. Jack Powell. Friends may join the family at the residence. Powell Funeral Home, South Boston, is handling arrangements.
