Catherine Simmons Smith, 84, of 717 Fairview Drive, died Sunday, May 7, 1995. 

Mrs. Smith was a native of Nansemond County and was the daughter of Charlie and Annie White Simmons. She was the widow of William Otis Smith. She was a member of Franklin Baptist Church. 

Survivors include a daughter, Mary Smith Worrell and one brother, Beverly Simmons, both of Franklin; two grandchildren, William Herbert Worrell of Norfolk and Kathy Worrell of Franklin; two great-grandchildren, Mary Elizabeth Worrell and Daniel C. Worrell. 

A graveside funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 9, 1995, at Poplar Spring Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the residence. Wright Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.
