James Edgar Scott Jr., died June 20, 2003 in California. Born in Florence County, S.C., she was the daughter of the late Betty White and Homer Reese Tomlinson. Mrs. Scott was a graduate of Winthrop College and a retired mathematics teacher. She taught at Collegiate Girls School, Broadwater Academy, and John Tyler Community College. She was a member of Courtland United Methodist Church. Survivors include her son, James E. Scott III and wife Maureen; two grandchildren, Lisa Scott and Nicholas Scott, all of Eureka, Calif.; and a half sister, Beatrice Robinson of Florence, S.C. Mrs. Scott was predeceased by a daughter, Mary Emma Scott. A graveside service will be held at 3 p.m. Friday in Riverside Cemetery , Courtland , with the Rev. Kay Barstow Gentry officiating.
