Obituary of CHARLOTTE R. SCOTT The Virginian-Pilot (Norfolk, VA) - September 9, 1993 Charlotte Ann Rainey Scott died Sept. 7, 1993. Born in Suffolk on Jan. 15, 1943 and reared in Franklin, she was the daughter of Charlotte H. Rainey of Franklin and the late John E. Rainey Jr. While living in Franklin, she was employed as a secretary by Union Camp Corp. and was active in the Hunterdale United Church of Christ. In Hampton, she was active in the Junior Women's Club of Newport News and appeared in the 1972 edition of Outstanding Young Women of America. During that time she was volunteer coordinator for the Newport News Juvenile Detention Home and was active in the First United Church of Christ in Hampton. She was an executive secretary for 16 years at Lone Star/Tarmac Lonestar. At the time of her death she was an administrative secretary at Children's Hospital of The King's Daughters, where this past year she was nominated as Employee of the Year. She was active in the Tidewater Chapter of Professional Secretaries International, president elect 1992-1993, and was serving as president 1993-1994. She had just returned from the International Convention in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. She attended the Christian Church Uniting, Indian River Road, Virginia Beach, where she had served on the Consistory and as co-chairman of stewardship. Besides her mother, she is survived by two daughters, Stacey Yvonne Scott of Norfolk and Karen Suzanne Scott of Virginia Beach and Duck, N.C. She leaves special friends, special relations, soul-mates and ships that passed in the night. But most especially she leaves love - love of each other, love of self, love of life and love that has no end. The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday in Hunterdale United Church of Christ by the Rev. James X. Camak and the Rev. Lucinda K. Barnum-Steggerda. Burial will be in Poplar Spring Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Wright Funeral Home, Franklin, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today and at other times at Mrs. Charlotte Rainey's, 23211 Scott St., in the Hunterdale area of Franklin.
