SCARBOROUGH The Virginian-Pilot (Norfolk, VA) - September 1, 1995 Mr. James Gregory "Jack" Scarborough, age 85, a resident of Capron and lifelong resident of Southampton County, died on Aug. 31, 1995, in Greensville Memorial Hospital in Emporia. Mr. Scarborough was the son of the late Benjamin James and Lilly Fuller Scarborough. He was a retired farmer and carpenter. He is survived by his wife, Edith Francis Scarborough; two daughters, Betty S. Gentry-Metzler of Harrisonburg, Jo Anne S. Vance of Portsmouth; two sisters, Ruth Pope of Capron, and Doris Blow of Hampton; and a grandson, John William Gentry of Charlottesville. Graveside services will be held at Capron Cemetery on Saturday, Sept. 2, 1995, at 11 a.m. by the Rev. Kenneth Williams. The family will receive friends at the residence, 17201 Southampton Parkway in Capron. Memorial donations may be made to Capron Vol. Rescue Squad or to the Capron Vol. Fire Dept. Purviance Funeral Home, Boykins Chapel, is handling the arrangements.
