Obituary of Edith Francis Scarborough EDITH F SCARBOROUGH Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - August 19, 2004 Edith Francis Scarborough, 94, widow of James Gregory Scarborough, passed away Aug. 17, 2004, at The Village at Woods Edge in Franklin, Va. A lifetime resident of Southampton County, she was the daughter of the late Jefferson L. Francis and Cora Rountree Francis. Edith is survived by her daughters, Betty S. Gentry-Metzler of Harrisonburg and Jo Anne S. Vance of Portsmouth; grandson, John William Gentry of Afton; and her niece, Mary Jo Easterling of Capron. Graveside services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. in Capron Cemetery with the Rev. Beth-Marie R. Barnett officiating. Memorial donations may be made to Capron Volunteer Fire Dept., Capron Volunteer Rescue Squad, Capron, VA 23829; The Wildlife Center of Virginia, P.O. DAVID SEXTON Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - May 4, 2004 Earl David Sexton, 62, died May 3, 2004. A native of Osaka, Va., he was a son of the late Robert D. and Gladys Hicks Sexton. He was a Navy veteran, a member of Capron Baptist Church, a member and past master of Courtland Masonic Lodge and was retired from International Paper Company. Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Dianna L. Crain Sexton; a daughter, Jeana Lorraine Sexton of Chester; two sons, Mark David Sexton and wife Renee of South Boston and Brian Earl Sexton and wife LouAnne of Hayes; and two grandchildren, Annalise Olivia Sexton and Kayla MacKenzie Barlow. Mr. Sexton was predeceased by three brothers, James, Charlie and Bactyle Sexton. The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday in Capron Baptist Church with the Rev. Keith Robinson officiating. Burial, with Masonic rites, will be in Capron Cemetery .
