Howard Otis Sauls, 54, died Thursday, Oct. 7, 1999. He was employed by International Paper as a shipping and receiving clerk in the Particle Board Plant. 

Survivors include his wife, Scharleen; a son, Howard O. Sauls Jr. and one daughter, Laura Jane S. Hughes; two grandchildren; his mother, Pearl Mae Tillman of Apex, N.C.; two brothers; and three sisters. 

A graveside service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday in Poplar Spring Cemetery, Franklin, by the Rev. Jack Sauls. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today at Holland-Rideout Funeral Home. Memorial donations can be made to the American Cancer Society.
