Obituary of JOHN LEONARD ROSE SR. Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - September 8, 1996 John Leonard Rose Sr., 81, of the 27000 block of Walters Highway, died Sept. 7, 1996 at Obici Hospital. Mr. Rose was a lifelong resident of Isle of Wight Co. and was the son of the late Richard R. and Omato Johnson Rose. He was the retired owner and operator of J.L. Rose Hog Market in Courtland, Va. He was a member of Mt. Carmel Christian Church where he was a trustee and former deacon, Mr. Rose was a member of the Walters Ruritan Club and a director of the Farmers Bank in Windsor. Survivors include his wife, Frances Ballard Rose; a son, J.L. Rose Jr. and his wife, Rose of Walters; two sisters, Louise R. McDonald of Walters, Alma R. Richardson of Jacksonville, Fla.; a brother, LeRoy Rose of Chesapeake; a grandson, Michael D. Rose of Murfreesboro, N.C.; several nieces and nephews. Mr. Rose was predeceased by two brothers, Thomas Willard Rose and Richard R. Rose Jr. The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Mt. Carmel Christian Church with the Rev. Robert Bennett. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at Wright Funeral Home, Franklin, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Monday and suggests that memorials be made to the Mt.
