Obituary of Frances Ballard Rose FRANCES BALLARD ROSE Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - May 10, 2003 WALTERS - Frances Ballard Rose, 85, widow of John Leonard Rose, passed away May 8, 2003 at Obici Hospital. Mrs. Rose was a native of Isle of Wight County and a daughter of the late John M. and Lillian Duck Ballard. She was a lifelong and active member of Mount Carmel Christian Church where she enjoyed being part of the choir, her Sunday school class, church circles and serving on numerous committees. Frances was a member of The Golden Age Club, the Home Demonstration Club, and was a longtime poll official for Walters during county, state and national elections. She was actively involved with the American Cancer Society acknowledging gifts and memorials. Survivors include her son, J.L. Rose Jr. and wife, Rose of Walters and a grandson, Michael D. Rose of Murfreesboro, N.C. Frances was predeceased by a brother, J.M. "Peter" Ballard Jr. The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday at Mount Carmel Christian Church with the Rev. Tony Rivers and the Rev. Robert Bennett officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
