Bessie Davis Rogers, 83, died Oct. 30, 1992, in a nursing home. 

Mrs. Rogers was born in Southampton County. She was a retired teacher with the Southampton County public school system. She graduated from Mary Washington College and was a member of Courtland United Methodist Church and Order of the Eastern Star. She was the widow of Olden Douglas Rogers Sr. 

Survivors include two sons, O. Douglas Rogers Jr. of Franklin and Davis T. Rogers of Greenville, S.C.; a sister, Jessie D. Marks, and a brother, Lewis W. Davis, both of Courtland ; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. 

The graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Monday in Riverside Cemetery by the Rev. Thomas G. Lee. Friends may join the family at 109 Oakwood Drive, Franklin. Holland-Rideout Funeral Home is handling arrangements. 

Memorial donations may be made to the church building fund.
