Obituary of James Jones “Jim” Rawls JAMES JONES RAWLS The Tidewater News - 02-17-2005 FRANKLIN - James Jones "Jim" Rawls, 89, died Feb. 12 at Southampton Memorial Hospital. A native of Nansemond County, he was a son of the late Charles Randolph and Garrie Jones Rawls, and widow of Josephine Tarpley Rawls. Mr. Rawls was a 1937 graduate of Holland High School and an Army veteran of World War II. He was a retired self-employed chauffeur and a member of South Quay Baptist Church. Survivors include two sons, James Robert "Bob" Rawls and wife Susan and Joseph Thomas "Tom" Rawls, all of Franklin. Mr. Rawls was also predeceased by two sisters, Eugenia R. Hingerty and Elizabeth R. Pavlovsky; and two brothers, Charles R. Rawls, and his twin brother, Robert Cutchins Rawls. A funeral was conducted Feb. 16 in South Quay Baptist Church with the Rev. Patrick Coffey officiating. Burial with military honors followed in Poplar Spring Cemetery. The family received friends Feb. 15 at Wright Funeral Home.
