Obituary of HELEN MARIE MAXWELL RAWLINGS HELEN MARIE MAXWELL RAWLINGS Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - Tuesday, February 25, 2003 MARIE M. RAWLINGS (aka) FRANKLIN - Marie Maxwell Rawlings passed away Feb. 24, 2003. Marie was a native of Woodstock, New Brunswick, Canada, and was born July 1, 1930 to Dr. and Mrs. Robert William Maxwell. After graduating from Acadia University in Wolfville, Nova Scotia, as a medical laboratory technician, Marie accepted a position with Raiford Memorial Hospital in Franklin, where she met her husband Hubert. Marie became a United States citizen in 1963, and had been a member of High Street United Methodist Church since Marie and Hubert wed in 1957. Marie is survived by her husband of 45 years, Dr. Hubert S. Rawlings Jr.; her daughter, Ann R. Stutts and her husband Lawrence of Powhatan, Va.; two sons, Robert M. Rawlings and his wife Laure of Atlanta, Ga., and Stephen F. Rawlings of Suffolk; four granddaughters, Sarah and Caiti Rawlings, Alison and Whitney Stutts; her sisters-in-law, Mrs. Rosalind R. Graves of Franklin and Mrs. Ronald J. Maxwell of Kentville, Nova Scotia. She was predeceased by her brother, Ronald J. Maxwell of Kentville, Nova Scotia. Marie is loved and will be remembered by many close friends in Virginia, as well as those back home in Canada. A service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Wright Funeral Home with the Rev. Linda S. Alvis officiating. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the charity of your choice.
