A native of Southampton County, he was a retired welder supervisor at Newport News Shipbuilding. Survivors include a very special lady, Debra Ann Torrence of Smithfield; five daughters, Melinda Massey, Kathleen Roberts, Janice King and Mona Curling, all of Portsmouth, and Ellen "Dee Dee" Shelburne of Chesapeake; four sisters, Gladys Foxwell of Hurlock, Md., Emily Walton of Hopewell, Betty Sue Cox of Chesapeake, and Sarah Lee McNeal of Harmony, Md.; two brothers, James A. Pulley of Hopewell and Robert Pulley of Cambridge, Md.; and 10 grandchildren. A funeral will be held Saturday, April 29, 1995, at 1 p.m. by the Rev. Alan G. Moor at Loving Funeral Home Chapel. Burial in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens.
