Obituary of Willie Lowe Porter WILLIE L. PORTER Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - October 18, 2001 Willie Lowe Porter died Oct. 17, 2001, at her home. A lifelong resident of Franklin, she was a daughter of the late Willie Edward and Nellie Cutchins Lowe. A graduate of Franklin High School, she attended Chowan College and, prior to rearing her family, was an employee of the Woodlands Division of Union Camp Corporation. She and her husband, Irvin, were instrumental in organizing the Habitat for Humanity program in Franklin and Southampton County. Mrs. Porter was a member of Franklin Baptist Church. Survivors include her husband, Irvin M. Porter; two sons, Max B. Porter and wife, Barbette of Courtland and Clay D. Porter and wife, Tammy of Franklin; two sisters, Nell L. Stradley and Doris L. Porter and husband Cecil, all of Franklin; and five grandchildren, Quinton McDowell Porter, Calvert Miles Porter, Jessica Ann Porter, Brynner Irvin Porter and Camden Lowe Porter. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in Poplar Spring Cemetery with the Rev. Dr. Ira D. Hudgins and the Rev. Steve Bradshaw officiating. The family will receive friends today from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Wright Funeral Home and suggests that in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Habitat for Humanity, P.O.
