Born in Southampton County, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Mae Holland Harris. A homemaker, she was a retired nursing assistant and a member of Franklin Baptist Church. Survivors include her husband of 57 years, Leslie F. Porter Sr.; two daughters, Denise P. Porter and Joan P. O'Clair and husband, Donald ''Buck''; two sons, Glenn A. Porter and Leslie F. Porter Jr. and wife Mary, all of Franklin; and a grandson, Bryan Porter of Boston, Mass. Mrs. Porter was predeceased by a sister, Nellie Spence and a brother, Joseph Harris. A graveside service will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. in Beechwood Cemetery, Boykins, with the Rev. Lester King and the Rev. Dr. Ira D. Hudgins officiating. The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at Wright Funeral Home, and other times at the home of Joan O'Clair, 21451 Sedley Road, Franklin.
