Obituary of HINTON REESE POPE Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - February 12, 1996 Hinton Reese Pope, 82, of 30310 Walters Highway, died Feb. 10, 1996, in Southampton Memorial Hospital. Mr. Pope was a native of Southampton County and was the son of the late John Henry and Lula Crowder Pope. He was a retired farmer and had worked part time for Hassett's Department Store for 40 years. He was a member of Beaver Dam Baptist Church and its Men's Bible Class. Survivors include his wife, Vassie Vick Pope; two daughters, Catherine P. Clayton of Seaford, Va., and Shirley P. Barnes of Courtland; a son, McCoy B. Pope of Carrsville; a brother, Marvin B. Pope of Franklin; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by two brothers, Eldridge Pope and James Pope of Carrsville. The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Beaver Dam Baptist Church by Dr. Richard Peerey. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Wright Funeral Home, Franklin, and other times at the home of Rudy and Shirley Barnes, 29213 Hunt Club Road, Courtland.
