Obituary of Walter Wayne "Pop" Pixley WALTER WAYNE PIXLEY Virginian Pilot - 05-22-2005 FRANKLIN - Walter Wayne "Pop" Pixley, 76, died May 20, 2005 at MCV Hospital in Richmond. A native of Person County, N.C., he was a son of the late Walter C. and Lillie Beaver Pixley. Wayne was retired from Union Camp Corporation as an accountant after 40 years and was 35 year member of the Franklin Lion's Club. He was a member of Franklin Baptist Church and treasurer of the Bruner Bible Class. He was an avid hunter and sportsman and friend to many. Survivors include a daughter, Nancy Hopkins and husband John; a son, Wendall Pixley and wife Leah; devoted friend and ex-wife, Louise D. Pixley, all of Franklin; two grandchildren, Matt and Megan Hopkins; a step-grandson, Rob Cutchins; two sisters, Daphne P. Pond of Front Royal, Betty Jo Story of Colonial Heights; a brother, Elmer Pixley of Dinwiddie; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Wayne was predeceased by a sister, Joyce P. Rawls of Franklin. A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday at Franklin Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. A. Richard Childress officiating. Burial will follow at Poplar Spring Cemetery. The family will receive friends today from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Wright Funeral Home and suggests memorials be made to Franklin Baptist Church, 208 N.
