Obituary of Walter Cedric Pittman WALTER CEDRIC PITTMAN Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - Thursday, May 15, 1997 Walter Cedric Pittman, 86, died May 14, 1997, in Southampton Memorial Hospital, Franklin. Mr. Pittman was born near Dory, Va., and was the son of the late Walter Raleigh Pittman and Maude Wood Pittman. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. A retired farmer and timberman, he was an avid sportsman and expert quail hunter. Mr. Pittman was predeceased by two sisters, Elizabeth Terrell and Margaret Baker, and by four brothers, Hugh, Irvin, Harold and Elmo Pittman. Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Marjorie Felts Pittman; son, Dale W. Pittman, and daughter-in-law, Linda F. Pittman, of Petersburg; his son, Henry F. Pittman, and daughter-in-law, Mopsi Pittman, of Chesapeake; seven grandchildren, Elizabeth White Pittman, John Travis Pittman, Linnea Dale Pittman, Matthew Walter Cedric Pittman, Timothy Wood Pittman, Andrew Graham Pittman and Austin Trevor Pittman; sister, Josephine Pittman Coiner, of Farmville; and a brother, Clarence P. Pittman, of Franklin. A funeral will be conducted at Courtland Baptist Church, 22264 Main St., at 2 p.m. Friday, May 16, 1997, by the Revs. Michael Harrell and Thomas Caulkins. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery , Courtland .
