Luster Hinson Pittman Sr., 93, died Feb. 25, 1997, in Waverly Health Care Center. 

Mr. Pittman was born in Southampton County and was the son of the late Charlie Hinson and Nannie Johnson Pittman. He was the oldest living member of Ivor Baptist Church and a longtime member of the American Motorcycle Association. He was the husband of the late Lula Clark Pittman. 

He is survived by a son, Luster Hinson ``Smoky'' Pittman Jr.; a sister, Cora Pittman Babb of Smithfield; three grandchildren, Thomas Hinson Pittman, JoAnne P. Whisenant, Lou Ann P. Darden, all of Ivor; 13 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. 

A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday in Purviance Funeral Home, Wakefield, by Dr. Edwin Peebles. Burial will be in Ivor Cemetery . The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today. Memorial donations may be made to the Ivor Volunteer Rescue Squad.
