Obituary of Leon Rollison "Boss" Pittman Sr. LEON R. PITTMAN SR. Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - November 12, 2001 Leon R. Pittman Sr. FRANKLIN - Leon Rollison ``Boss'' Pittman Sr., 91, beloved Daddy and ``Pop,'' died Saturday, Nov. 10, 2001. A native of Southampton County, he was the son of the late Rebecca Rollison and Victor Pittman, and stepmother, Jeanette Pinner Pittman. He was an avid fisherman, a friend to all ages and, definitely, one of a kind. Mr. Pittman retired from the maintenance department of Union Camp Corp. after 35 years of service, and was a member of the Franklin Congregational Christian Church. Survivors include three daughters, Judy P. Blythe of Franklin, Beverly P. Hardison and her husband J.T. of Virginia Beach, and Becky P. Whitfield and her husband Whit of Virginia Beach; two sons, Leon R. Pittman Jr. and his wife Bonnie of Franklin and Jim Pittman and his wife Arlene of Sedley; two sisters, Margaret Hutchison and Edna Blythe, both of Franklin; ``Pops'' had 11 grandchildren, Pete Karafa, Julie Blythe, Ben Blythe, Cherie Cornwell, Charlene Montanez, Nicole Barressi, Tres Steele, Nic and Josh Pittman, and Brandon and Aaron Pittman; and eight great-grandchildren. Mr. Pittman was predeceased by his loving wife of 63 years, Julia Bracey ``Nana'' Pittman, and a sister, Ann Evelyn Fridell. A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Wright Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Lafayette Wilkins officiating. Burial will be in Poplar Spring Cemetery .
