Born in Southampton County, she was a daughter of the late Lee and Lina Brickle Bracey. An active bridge player, Mrs. Pittman had been with her club of ladies for more than 50 years. She was a member of Franklin Congregational Christian Church. Survivors include her husband of 63 years, L.R. ``Boss'' Pittman; three daughters, Judy P. Blythe of Franklin, Beverly P. Hardison and her husband, J.T., and Becky P. Whitfield and her husband, Whit, all of Virginia Beach; two sons, Leon R. Pittman Jr. and his wife, Bonnie, of Franklin and Jim Pittman and his wife, Arlene, of Sedley; 11 grandchildren, Pete Karafa, Julie Blythe, Ben Blythe, Cherie Cornwell, Charlene Montanez, Nicole Barressi, Tres Steele, Nic and Josh Pittman, Brandon and Aaron Pittman; and eight great-grandchildren. A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in the chapel of Wright Funeral Home by the Rev. Lafayette Wilkins. Burial will be in Poplar Spring Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home and suggests that memorial donations be made to the Franklin Congregational Christian Church, 412 N. High St., Franklin, or to the Texie Camp Marks Children's Center, 700 Campbell St., Franklin, VA 23851.
