Obituary of Nelle Bristow Pillow NELLE B. PILLOW Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - November 30, 1997 Nelle Bristow Pillow, 89, died Nov. 29, 1997, at the Windermere Long Term Health Care Facility in Virginia Beach, where she had been a resident since 1992. She was born in Franklin on Dec. 19, 1907, and spent her life here until she moved to the Windermere Center. She was the daughter of the late William Orlando and Gabrielle Bryant Bristow, also of Franklin, and the widow of the late George Ellis (Hap) Pillow of Franklin. Mrs. Pillow was graduated from the Stuart Hall School in Staunton, Va. Her grandfather, the late James Fenton Bryant, was a former mayor of the town of Franklin. Her father, William O. Bristow, established the former Bristow Insurance and Realty Corp. in Franklin, of which her husband, Hap Pillow, was president until his retirement in 1972. She was a lifelong member of High Street United Methodist Church. Mrs. Pillow is survived by a daughter, Nancy Pillow Bachman of Athens, Ga.; a son and daughter-in-law, George E. Pillow Jr. and Suzette M. Pillow of Virginia Beach; a sister, Virginia (Si) Bristow Davis of Franklin; six grandchildren, Kimberlyn Pillow Larson of Manassas, Va., Keith Loren Pillow of Releigh, Nancy Bryant Pillow of Remington, Va., Augustus W. Bachman Jr. of Augusta, Ga., Dr. William H. Bachman Jr. of Dacula, Ga., and Rebecca S. Bachman of Athens, Ga.; and two great-grandchildren, Brittany E. Larson and Garrett H. Larson of Manassas. A graveside funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday in Poplar Spring Cemetery by the Rev. Edward Johnson. Following the service, the family will receive friends at the home of Elliott Whitfield, 136 Crescent Drive.
