He was the son of the late John Henry Perry and Tempie Ward Perry. He was predeceased by his wife, Ruby Nell Joyner Perry; and two sons, Joseph Marcus Perry, Jr. and Larry R. Perry.
   He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Tempie P. and S. Coy Hughson of Suffolk; grandsons, Jason C. Hughson and Jarrod M. Hughson, both of Suffolk; and a sister Pattie P. Byrum of Suffolk.
   A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Liberty Spring Christian Church by the Rev. Tommy Reynolds.  Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may join the family today at Hill Funeral Home from 7 to 8 p.m. and other times at 119 C. Street, the home of Tempie Hughson.
   Contributions may be made to Liberty Spring Christian Church Building Fund, 6312 Whaleyville blvd., Suffolk, Va. 23434.
