Obituary of Thomas Edgar Parker THOMAS EDGAR PARKER The Tidewater News  03-20-2001 SUFFOLK  Thomas Edgar Parker, 82, of the 1800 block of Kings Ford Road, died March 17 in Obici Hospital. A native of Gates County, N.C., he was the son of the late Henry Eddie and Annie Lilley Parker. Mr. Parker was a U.S. Army veteran having served in World War II. He retired as a store manager for Sentry Services and formerly was employed by Planters Peanuts. Currently he was a funeral attendant for Sidney F. Harrell Funeral Home in Suffolk. He was a member of Bethlehem Christian Church and a former deacon and member of the Ushers Board and the Fellowship Club. He was a member of the Taylor-Brittle Sunday School Class and a former member of the Kings Fork Ruritan Club. Survivors include his wife of 37 years, Audrey Oliver Parker; daughters and sons-in-law, Sarah Holland Gray and Lloyd Gray of Suffolk, Sandra Holland Rose of Fayetteville, N.C.; son and daughter, John Arthur Art Holland and Margaret Cornett Holland of Suffolk; grandchildren, Teresa Dewell, Carl and Nancy Gray, Sarah Anne and Jason Chipman, Cassandra and Jerry Butler, Whitney Holland and Tyler Holland; six great-grandchildren; sisters, Annie Mary Bunch, Lucy Ellen Parker of Suffolk, and Oma Lee Joyner and brother-in-law, Bob Joyner, of Franklin; one brother, James Parker of Portsmouth; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Raymond Parker. A funeral was held March 19 in Bethlehem Christian Church with the Rev. Jonathan Palmer officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery with military honors. Sidney F. Harrell Funeral Home handled arrangements.
