She was born in Halifax County, N.C., and was the widow of John Simon Owens. She was a member of the Tarrara Women's Club. She was the daughter of the late Fred and Ida Sykes McCoy. Survivors include her son, Dick Owens of Nashville, Tenn.; two sisters, Edna M. Ewald of Norfolk and Mildred M. Minton of Franklin; three brothers, Herman McCoy of Boykins, Cecil McCoy of Aulander, N.C., and Harold McCoy of Ahoskie, N.C.; and three grandchildren, Richard Lee Owens Jr., Kenneth Todd Owens and Ryan Douglas Owens. The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday in Boykins United Methodist Church by the Rev. Robert Gochenour. Burial will be in Beechwood Cemetery, Boykins. Purviance Funeral Home, Boykins Chapel, is handling the arrangements. The family will receive friends at the residence today from 7 to 9 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to the Boykins Volunteer Rescue Squad or to the church.
