Born Dec. 10, 1910, in Southampton County, Va., he was a son of the late Charles David and Mary Jane Parker Overby. A World War II Navy veteran, Mr. Overby was a charter member of Moose Lodge No. 1145 in St. Petersburg. He was a Methodist. Survivors include his wife, Virginia Overby of the home; a sister, Cornelia Huffman of Luray, Va.; a stepson, John L. Sullivan of High Springs, Fla.; two grandchildren, Sharon Touchton of St. Petersburg and Richard Sullivan of Dade City, Fla.; a sister-in-law, Cleo Overby of Courtland , Va.; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by three sisters, Alice Cutchins, Myrtle Lee Blythe and Gertrude Overby, and three brothers, George Overby, Marvin Dudley Overby and Dick Overby. A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 17, 1998, in Riverside Cemetery , Courtland , Va., with the Rev. Robert J. Parks Jr. officiating. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at Wright Funeral Home, Franklin.
