Obituary of Elsie Duck O'Meara ELSIE DUCK O'MEARA Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - October 12, 2000 Elsie ``Tulie'' Duck O'Meara died Oct. 10, 2000, quietly in her home. Mrs. O'Meara was born in Isle of Wight County and was the daughter of the late John Irvin and Martha Carr Duck of Walters. She retired after 35 years of service from GTE Telephone Co. and had continued to meet regularly with co-workers and former employees of the telephone company. She was a lifelong member of Mount Carmel Christian Church. She treasured the friendships made with other cancer survivors in her cancer support group. Mrs. O'Meara traveled extensively with her husband pursuing their interest in Peanut Pals and in the many Cooperative Extension conferences across the country. She is survived by her husband of 30 years, Delbert E. O'Meara; a sister, Martha Duck DeLap of Windsor; two brothers, John I. Duck Jr. and wife, Sandra, and Bobby Ray Duck and wife, June, of Franklin; mother-in-law, Genevieve O'Meara; brother- and sister-in-law, Paul and Judy O'Meara, all of Manassas; nieces and nephews, Margaret Cobb Cutchins of Carrsville, Lynn Cobb Butler of Windsor, George Cobb III of Franklin, John Wayne Cobb of Windsor, Cheryl Cobb Gibbs of Virginia Beach, John Kevin Duck of Windsor, Kim Duck Flythe of Franklin, Stephanie Elizabeth Duck of Richmond and Paul O'Meara Jr. of Manassas; and numerous great-nephews and -nieces. She was predeceased by an infant sister, Margaret Louise Duck. Mrs. O'Meara was a geniune lady, inside and out, and will truly be missed by her family and wide host of friends. The family will receive visitors today from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Wright Funeral Home, Franklin, and at other times at the residence. A funeral will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at Mount Carmel Church, Walters, with burial in the church cemetery. A reception will follow in Walters Community House.
