A native of Norfolk, he also lived and worked in Southampton County, serving 38 years in the schools there as teacher, coach and principal. He is survived by his wife, Marian Harris Nottingham; his daughter, Gloria Elaine Nottingham, both of Richmond; two sisters, Kathleen Hughes Foreman of Norfolk and Hermione Hughes Carter of Petersburg; sisters-in-law, Alice Alston Hughes of Norfolk, Mildred Harris Jenkins of Victoria, Evelyn Harris Price of Richmond, Florence P. Harris of Hampton, and Selena R. Harris and Barbara W. Harris, both of Courtland; two brothers-in-law, the Rev. Delaware F. Harris of Courtland and Galvin L. Jenkins of Victoria; a host of nieces and nephews. A funeral will be held at 11 a.m., April 3, at First Baptist Church, 418 East Bute Street in Norfolk, with Dr. Robert G. Murray officiating. Interment will follow at Southampton Memorial Gardens* [Park] in Franklin. Remains rest with E.A.
