A native of Gates County, North Carolina, he was a son of the late Iola Russell and Rubin Wayward Nixon Sr. Nick was the owner of Nick's TV Space Tech Inc. having been in business in Franklin since 1959. An Army veteran, he was a member of Courtland United Methodist Church, Cypress Cove Country Club and the American Legion Post No. 73. Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Helen Brooks Nixon; special children who were the loves of Nick's and Helen's lives, Wayne Brooks Nixon, Marty Turner, Diana T. Babb, Nancy Lowe, Jimmy Moore, Henry Davis and Earl Davis; special friends, Robert V. Colyer Jr., Timothy Colyer, Michael Colyer; and nieces and nephews. Nick was predeceased by a sister, Clarine N. Drake and two brothers, Leon and Phillip Nixon. A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday at Wright Funeral Home, Franklin, with the Rev. Kay Barstow Gentry and the Rev. Tommy Speight officiating. Burial, with military honors, will follow at Southampton Memorial Park . A reception will follow the committal service at Courtland Baptist Church Fellowship Hall. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 1132, Fairfax, VA 22038 or a favorite church.
