Phillip Dale Nixon, 59, of the 300 block of S. High St., died April 10, 1991, in his home. 

Mr. Nixon was a native of Gates County, N.C., and a former resident of Portsmouth. He retired from the accounting department of Union Camp Corp. He was a member of Hunterdale United Church of Christ and Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was an Army veteran and a graduate of Old Dominion University. 

Survivors include two sons, Phillip D. Nixon II of Franklin and Blaker R. Nixon of Virginia Beach; his mother, Iola R. Nixon of Courtland; a sister, Clarine N. Drake of Sunbeam; a brother, R.W. Nixon Jr. of Courtland. 

The graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday in Southampton Memorial Park by the Rev. Gary Powell. Friends may join the family at the home of Mrs. R.W. Nixon Sr., 230,255 Main St., Courtland, and will assemble at 10:30 a.m. in Wright Funeral Home, Franklin, for the procession.
