Obituary of IOLA RUSSELL NIXON The Virginian-Pilot (Norfolk, VA) - Friday, January 21, 1994 Iola Russell Nixon, 85, of Main Street, died Wednesday, Oct. 19, 1994, in the Courtland Health Care Center. Mrs. Nixon was a native of Gates County, N.C., and was the widow of Reuben Wayward Nixon. She was a member of Courtland United Methodist Church. Survivors include one daughter, Clarine N. Drake of Sunbeam; one son, R.W. Nixon Jr. of Courtland; three sisters, Alese Howell and Lessie Mae Rountree, both of Suffolk, and Nettie Butler of Franklin; one brother, Benjamin W. Russell of Suffolk; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday in Southampton Memorial Park , Franklin, by the Rev. John Wimer and the Rev. Kenneth Williams. The family will receive friends at Wright Funeral Home, Franklin, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today.
