Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - December 21, 1999 Clarence Albert ``Curly'' Newsome Sr., 66, died Dec. 20, 1999, at Johnston-Willis Hospital in Richmond. A resident of Ivor for many years, he was born in Williamsburg, Va. He was the manager of Bain Enterprises, Ivor, and had served the company for 44 years. He was a deacon of Ivor Baptist Church and served as secretary for 24 years; a charter member of Ivor Vol. Rescue Squad; former fire chief of Ivor Vol. Fire Dept.; and formerly served on the Ivor Town Council for two years. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Ada Mae Wells Newsome; son, Clarence A. Newsome Jr. and his wife, Martha, of Windsor; daughters, Linda M. Newsome of Richmond and Amy N. Crocker and husband, Allen, of Windsor; his mother, Myrtle Edwards Newsome Logan; sisters, Mildred Newsome and Alice Gwaltney, all of Waverly; brothers, George P. Logan and wife, Judy of Georgia, C. Edward Newsome and wife, Mary Ann of Wakefield; and grandchildren, Christy Newsome and Dana and Daniel Crocker. He was predeceased by his father, Curtis Albert Newsome Sr. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Purviance Funeral Home, Wakefield. Burial will be in Ivor Cemetery .
