Obituary of JOHN W. MOODY The Virginian-Pilot (Norfolk, VA) - September 18, 1993 John William Andrew Moody, 74, of 27061 Delaware Road, died Friday, Sept. 17, 1993, in Southampton Memorial Hospital. Mr. Moody, a native of Isle of Wight County, was the son of the late Charles Jefferson and Maggie Thacker Moody. He was the widower of Elizabeth Edwards Moody. Mr. Moody, a resident of Franklin for 52 years, was the owner and operator of Delaware Farms. He was a former insurance adjuster for State Farm Insurance and former owner-operator of Edwards' Seine Beach. He served in the Army in the european theater during World War II. He was a member of Sycamore Baptist Church, where he was a member of the Men's Sunday School Class and Choir, past chairman of the Board of Deacons, church treasurer for more than 35 years, and trustee of the Ella V. Camp Fund. He was a member and past president of Hunterdale Ruritan Club, member of the Southern States Board of Directors; Farm Bureau Association; Peanut Growers Association; Pork Producers, Duroc Purebreed Association; Woodmen of the World; Loyal Order of Moose; past chairman and member of the Southampton County Electoral Board; and served on the first Board of Directors of Southampton Academy. Survivors include two daughters, June Moody Duck and Gail Moody Milteer, both of Franklin; two sons-in-law, Bobby R. Duck and Michael A. Milteer; and three grandchildren, Stephanie Elizabeth Duck, Sarah Elizabeth Milteer and Michael John Milteer, all of Franklin. A funeral wll be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday in Wright Funeral Home by Dr. Reginald Warren. Burial will be in Poplar Spring Cemetery. Friends may join the family at the Moody residence.
