Obituary of HERMAN FREDERICK McCOY The Virginian-Pilot (Norfolk, VA) - March 2, 1995 Herman Fredrick McCoy, 86, a lifelong resident of Boykins, died Tuesday, Feb. 28, 1995, at Greensville Convalescent Center, Emporia. He was a member of Boykins United Methodist Church, a charter member of the Boykins Lions Club and a recipient of the Melvin Jone International Lions Award, and a member of Meherrin Valley Coin Club. He served as secretary of the Southampton Electoral Board for many years. He was predeceased by his wife, Fannie Stephenson McCoy, and his parents, Fred and Ida Sykes McCoy. He is survived by his daughter, Barbara McCoy Newbern of Roanoke Rapids, N.C.; two sisters, Mildred M. Minton of Franklin and Edna M. Ewald of Norfolk; two brothers, Cecil L. McCoy of Aulander, N.C., and Harold P. McCoy of Ahoskie; and three grandchildren, Susan Tyler Boulton of Chapel Hill, N.C., Elizabeth Tyler Murphy of Sumter, S.C., and Christopher Scott Tyler of Charlotte, N.C.; and two great-grandchildren. A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. today in Boykins United Methodist Church by the Rev. Dr. Billy Seate and the Rev. Robert Gochenour. Burial will be in Beechwood Cemetery, Boykins.
