She was a native and former resident of Boykins, Va., and was daughter of the late Jefferson Davis and Virginia Bryant Ferguson. She was a retired schoolteacher, having taught at South Mecklenburg High School, Charlotte. She was a member of Myers Park Baptist Church, Charlotte, and was a former member of the Boykins Baptist Church. She was widow of the late Ralph Mays. She is survived by two nephews, Barry Ferguson of Charlotte, N.C., and Al Burden of New York and a step-son, Dwight Mays of Winston Salem, N.C. Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m. today in Beechwood Cemetery, Boykins, Va., by the Rev. Phil Motley. The family will receive friends at Purviance Funeral Home, Boykins, from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. today. Memorial donations may be sent to the Building fund of Boykins Baptist Church, 32057 Main Street, Boykins, Va. 23827 or to Myers Park Baptist Church, Box 6006, Charlotte, N.C. 28207.
