Thurman Alvin Mayo, 62, of the first block of Windsor Blvd. died Dec. 9, 1996, in his home. 

A retired construction worker and member of the AFL-CIO, he was a native of Chocowinity, N.C., and a U.S. Army veteran. He was the son of the late Minnie Paramore Mayo and Willie Mayo. 

Survivors include his daughters, Donna M. Smith of Yale, Va., and Debbie M. Crocker of Ivor; son, Alvin Mayo Jr. of Smithfield; six sisters, Lucille M. Moore of Washington, N.C., Joyce T. Mayo of Blounts Creek, N.C., Ann M. Cover of Irvine, Calif., Bea M. Woolard of Virginia Beach, Brenda M. Cox of Washington, N.C., and Faye M. Williams of Las Vegas; brother, Dr. Dalton Mayo of Clinton, N.C.; grandchildren, Beth Smith and Eli Smith of Yale and David Crocker of Ivor. 

A graveside funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Wednesday in Windsor Cemetery by the Rev. Michael D. Halley. Hill Funeral Home is in charge.
