Obituary of James Cody Lynch Sr. JAMES CODY LYNCH SR. VIRGININA PILOT  01-28-2001 SUFFOLK  James Cody Lynch Sr., 82, died Jan. 26, 2001. A native of North County, he was a son of the late Eva Brinkley and James Carey Lynch. Mr. Lynch worked at Joel E. Harrell & Son for many years and retired from A&P Tea Co. He was a staff sergeant in the Army Air Corp during the World War II. Mr. Lynch was a member of Liberty Spring Christian Church where he was deacon emeritus. He was a member of the Liberty Spring Ruritan Club, The Liberty Spring Senior Citizens Club and the White Marsh Hunt Club. Survivors include his wife, Emily Katherine Harrell Lynch; two daughters and their husbands, Katheryn Lynch Kaplan and Robert L. Kaplan of Lynchburg, Janet L. and R. Joe Simmons of Suffolk; son and daughter-in-law, James C. Lynch Jr. and wife Christy Lynch of Suffolk; a sister, Dorothy L. OBerry of Virginia Beach; a brother, Rudolph B. Lynch of Suffolk; three grandchildren, Joseph W. Simmons of Herndon, Julie M. Simmons of Suffolk and Kristin R. Kaplan of Lynchburg; and many nieces and nephews. A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Monday in Liberty Spring Christian Church by the Revs. Sallye Hardy and Joseph Talley and Dr. Bill Simmons with burial in the church cemetery. The family receive friends in R.W. Baker & Co.
