 Ruth Overby Lackey, 81, died June 19, 1997, in Columbia Chippenham Medical Center, Richmond. 
Mrs. Lackey was born in Branchville and was the daughter of the late Willie Burton and Carrie Romii Beale Overbey. She was the widow of Robert McKee Lackey Jr. 
She is survived by a daughter, Mary ''Kitty'' L. Kelton and her husband, David, of Richmond; son, D. Michael Lackey and his wife, Carolyn, of Franklin; three sisters, Mary O. Barnes and Edna Overby of Culpeper and Hazel O. Crandall of Smithfield; two brothers, Cliff Overby of Emporia and Leon Overby of Suffolk; five grandchildren, Matthew and Suzi Kelton and Kevin, Billy and Jonathan Lackey. 
A funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday in Wright Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Dr. Ira D. Hudgins. Burial will be in Beechwood Cemetery, Boykins. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home.
