Obituary of James Edward "Ed" Klages JAMES EDWARD "ED" KLAGES The Tidewater News - 01-22-2004 SUFFOLK - James "Ed" Klages, 77, died Jan. 16 at Obici Hospital. Born Oct. 19, 1926, in Nansemond County, he was the son of the late Ethel Richards and Freddie Klages. Mr. Klages was a World War II Army veteran and worked for C&P Telephone Co. as a central office repairman. He was a member of Magnolia United Methodist Church, lifetime member if Izaak Walter League of American, past member of Roger Deer Club, and former lieutenant in the Nansemond-Suffolk Rescue Squad. Survivors include his wife, Barbara Klages; daughters, Sherry Roberts and husband Ed of Suffolk and Debbie Carr and husband James of Carrsville; sister, Dorothy Jones of East Peoria, Ill.; brother, David Klages of Cottonwood, Calif.; and five grandchildren, Shannon Watkins, Scott and Rhee Carr, Karen and Courtney Roberts. A graveside service was held Jan. 20 at 11 a.m. at Cedar Hill Cemetery by the Rev. Mike Derflinger. The family received friends in R.W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home & Crematory.
