Obituary of JOHN I. KITCHEN Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - February 17, 1996 John Irvin Kitchen, 64, of 2017 Fairway Drive, died Feb. 15, 1996, in a hospital. He was the retired owner of Tri-City Tires & Custom Retread Company. He was a native of Southampton County, Va., and attended Calvary Baptist Church in Smithfield. He served with the U.S. Army in the Korean Conflict and retired as sergeant first class from the Army Reserves. He is survived by his wife, Rebecca Bracey Kitchen; three daughters, Joni Jarvis of Chesapeake, June Zinner of Kenosha, Wis., and Carrie Kitchen of Mexico; son, Todd Kitchen of Washington, D.C.; two stepdaughters, Rita Seward of Surry, Va., and Wanda Latimer of Rescue, Va.; stepson, Jay Bradshaw of Windsor, Va.; two sisters, Emily Parker of Dover, Del., Virginia Taylor of Franklin, Va.; two brothers, Alfred Ben Kitchen and Reginald Kitchen, both of Franklin; six grandchildren; six stepgrandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews. He was the son of the late Luther U. and Carrie Bryant Kitchen. He was predeceased by a brother, Ulysses Kitchen. A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday by the Rev. Dan E. Gray in Calvary Baptist Church. Burial is in Ivor Cemetery with Military Honors. Friends may join the family in the Hill Funeral Home today from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. and other times in the home.
