Obituary of Hubert Reginald Kitchen HUBERT REGINALD KITCHEN Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - Sunday, February 22, 2004 Hubert Reginald Kitchen, 78, died Feb. 20, 2004, at his home. A native of Southampton County, he was a son of the late Luther Ulysses and Carrie Virginia Bryant Kitchen. Mr. Kitchen was a member and former deacon of the Franklin Baptist Church and a 40-year member and former president of its Bruner Bible Class. An Army veteran of World War II, he retired after 38 years from Union Camp Corporation as a supervisor in the paper mill department. He was a member of the Scottish Rite Bodies, a past district deputy, a past Worshipful Master of the Franklin, Courtland and Newsoms Masonic lodges. Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Alyce Page Bryant Kitchen; two daughters, Patti Kitchen Heller of Springfield and Kathy Kitchen Thornton and husband, Jim, of Seaford; a son, Mark Reginald Kitchen and wife, Susan, of Carrsville; a sister, Virginia K. Taylor of Franklin; and four grandchildren, Jacob B. Thornton, Kelly C. Kitchen, Ally T. Thornton and Katie P. Kitchen. Mr. Kitchen was predeceased by two sisters, Emily K. Parker and Martha Elizabeth Kitchen; five brothers, Robert Thomas Kitchen, Floyd Millard Kitchen, J. Ulysses Kitchen, A. Benjamin Kitchen and John I. Kitchen. A funeral will be conducted Monday at 2 p.m. at Franklin Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. A. Richard Childress and the Rev. Sharon James officiating. Burial with Masonic rites will follow in Riverside Cemetery , Courtland .
