He was born Sept. 27, 1929 in Wakefield, to the late Willie Lee Kitchen and Lillian Ann Joyner Kitchen. Mr. Kitchen retired as a mechanic with H.P. Beale and Sons Inc. and was a member of Clarksbury Baptist Church. He is survived by his daughter, Frances Ferguson and her husband, Frank, of Courtland; three sons, Larry Kitchen and his wife, Joyce, of Carrsville, Ronnie Kitchen and his wife, Sheryl, of Portsmouth; and Keith Kitchen and his wife, Becky, of Carrsville; 12 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two brothers, Jimmy Kitchen of Portsmouth and Wayne Kitchen and his wife, Becky of Zuni; three nieces; and four nephews. A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Tucker Swamp Baptist Church Cemetery, Zuni, with the Rev. J.B. Jarratt officiating. The family will receive friends today from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Purviance Funeral Home, Wakefield, is in charge of arrangements.
