KITCHEN Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - July 4, 2001 Alfred Benjamin ``Ben'' Kitchen, 77, left here July 2, 2001, for eternal rest surrounded by his family after a courageous battle with cancer. Ben was born in Southampton County, a son of the late Luther Ulysses Kitchen and Carrie Bryant Kitchen, and was the husband of Dorothy Cobb Kitchen for 53 years. He was a retired supervisor in the paper mill division of Union Camp Corp., an Army veteran of World War II and Korea, and a member of the Hunterdale United Church of Christ. Surviving besides his wife are four daughters, Pam Ellis and her husband Tommy of Carrsville, Nancy Parrish and her husband Larry of Franklin, Connie Jones and her husband Perry of Courtland, and Deborah Davis and her husband Raymond of Courtland; one sister, Virginia K. Taylor of Franklin; one brother, H. Reginald Kitchen of Franklin; six grandchildren, Patricia Davis, Brandon Parrish, Erin Leigh Wilson, Ryan Parrish, Sarah Davis and Melinda Ellis; several nieces and nephews; many special friends; and a special Hospice family. He was predeceased by a sister, Emily K. Parker and two brothers, Ulysses Kitchen and John Irvin Kitchen. A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday at Wright Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Walter Snowa officiating. Burial will follow in Poplar Spring Cemetery . The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
