John Calvin Kirkland , 64, died May 23, 1996, at Riverside Conv. Center, Newport News, Va. 

A lifelong resident of Boykins, he was the son of the late Robert E. Kirkland Sr. and Pauline Fuller Kirkland . He was a member of Boykins Baptist Church. 

Mr. Kirkland is survived by two brothers, Ollie W. "Mutt" Kirkland and William R. "Nuke" Kirkland , both of Boykins; and a sister, Katherine K. Futrell of Courtland. He was predeceased by his brother, Robert E. Kirkland Jr. 

A graveside funeral service will be conducted in Beechwood Cemetery, Boykins, on Saturday at 11 a.m. by the Rev. Benjamin Thomas. The family will receive friends at the residence of O.W. "Mutt" Kirkland , East Street, Boykins. Purviance Funeral Home, Boykins Chapel, is handling arrangements.
